
Noële Crossley is an MPhil/PhD Candidate in International Relations at the London School of Economics. Before coming to LSE, she interned in the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs at the United Nations in New York. She graduated from LSE in 2009 (MSc) and the University of Vienna in 2007 (Mag. phil.). Her research interests revolve around humanitarianism, ethics in internationanl relations, international political theory, and conflict and peace studies. She is particularly interested in the development of the concept of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) and how it has come to replace the notion of Humanitarian Intervention; tensions inherent in the concept and debates surrounding it; as well as efforts to implement R2P, such as in the conflict in Darfur, Sudan, or during the post-election violence in Kenya in 2007-2008. Noële is the author of Multilateralism Versus Unilateralism: The Relevance of the United Nations in a Unipolar World (Peter Lang 2008).
