Richard Beardsworth is Professor in International Politics and Director of Research in the department of International Politics, Aberystwyth University. Trained as a political philosopher, he is in general concerned to bring feasible normative reflection and vision to the field and practice of world politics. To this end he has written at length on the possibilities and dilemmas of cosmopolitan vision in a conflict-ridden world. His present research interests lie in the relation between national and global levels of governance given the perceived divide between global elites and national welfare and in formulating a public philosophy of political responsibility and political leadership attuned to the national/global complex. To one side of research commitments he has also taught and advised in the field of international public policy.
