Jürgen Habermas is Professor Emeritus at Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main, where he held a chair as Professor of Philosophy between 1983 and 1994. He has held several appointments as fellow and visiting professor to research institutions worldwide. Jürgen Habermas is the author of several seminal studies in philosophy, sociology, law & culture as well as political science. His critiques of Marxism, Systems Theory and modern industrial societies as well as his theory on communicative action (1981) and his discourse theory of law and democracy (1992) have won international and interdisciplinary acclaim and are considered reference points in modern philosophy and social sciences. For his outstanding contributions, he was awarded the Theodor W. Adorno Award, the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade and the Kyoto Prize among others. His most recent publications include Europe. The Faltering Project (2009), Between Naturalism and Religion: Philosophical Essays (2008) and The Future of Human Nature (2003).
