Micheline Ishay is professor of international studies and human rights at the University of Denver. In 2008, she received the University of Denver Distinguished Scholar Award. Since 2010, she has been visiting professor and director of the distinguished speakers at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. She is the author or editor of several books, including Internationalism and Its Betrayal, the Nationalism Reader, The History of Human Rights: from Ancient Times to the Era of Globalization, and The Human Rights Reader: From Ancient Times to the Present. The History of Human Rights has been translated into Japanese, Greek, Korean, Macedonian, Portuguese, and has been published in separate editions in India and Pakistan. She is currently working on a book on the Middle East. The Philadelphia Inquirer ranked The History of Human Rights as one of the ten best books published in 2004. She has held visiting professorships at several universities in Europe, the United States and the Middle East.
