In this talk His Excellency David Re, Trial Chamber Judge of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, discuss international criminal law today as part of Durham Castle Lecture Series. Mr Re focuses on the progression from the Nuremburg trials to now and argues that great leaps of progress have been made, with a variety of tribunals, international criminal justice institutions and national courts being hosted and facilitated by The Hague. He asks how international criminal law has come so far, so quickly? The answer is shown to have its roots in the aftermath of World War One and to be constantly evolving as the ICC adapts to meet increasingly complex challenges.
