Armed struggles by Maoists in India that led Prof Chandhoke to reflect on whether armed struggle, howsoever justified it may be, is politically wise in democracies. In this lecture she will cover a great diversity of arguments, Mao of course, but mainly Fanon, Che, and Amilcar Cabral ending with Gandhi's reflections on violence.
Neera Chandhoke teaches political theory and comparative politics, and has written and published widely on civil society, secularism, democracy, affirmative action, representation, social and economic rights, and on freedom from poverty as a human right.
